About This Project

The COMPETENCE research project explored the needs, barriers and obstacles faced by people with dementia, their families and carers in out-of-home activities. Taking into account the current status of existing technologies in the ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) area, and design4all approaches, aspects were identified that are relevant for affected persons in the safe and active use of public space. It was investigated which factors motivate the different subgroups of people with dementia to move more often outside the home. To this end, affected persons, relatives and experts were interviewed using participative methods and solutions were discussed with all affected stakeholders.
