About This Project
Children (6-14 years old) and older persons (75+ years old) have the highest percentage of foot traffic in Vienna. Walking is an important source of everyday health-promoting exercise in a sedentary society. At the same time, children and senior citizens are the most vulnerable road users as pedestrians. This is also reflected in the accident figures. In order to understand what it takes for children and seniors to walk safely and attractively, the project team conducted a qualitative research study. For this purpose, the needs of younger and older people as pedestrians were determined, commonalities were identified and measures were derived.
