PARKING FOR MY BIKE

Parking for bicycles in densely populated housing complexes is an important part of a climate-friendly biking infrastructure. The Vorarlberg Energy Institute in cooperation with VerkehrsingenieurbüroBesch + Partner and Büro kairos Bregenz have drawn up the right guidelines for the task. It is a collection of criteria that are useful for optimal planning of bicycle parking facilities in residential complexes and in public places. An easily accessible and safe parking space can influence the daily decision as to which means of transport to choose. The safe parking space at the start is just as important as at the finish. Criteria that are relevant for planning include: good accessibility at the start/finish; sufficient number of parking spaces; stable bike racks; good lighting, weather protection; security against theft & vandalism; how many parking spaces does a residential complex need? which bike racks are comfortable and which are unsuitable?
